Tekita Bankhead is the director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Gies College of Business. She has extensive experience in DEI work and mental health advocacy, directing teams and developing programming at the University of Illinois and across the US.
Gies College of Business is once again ranked as a Top 10 public undergraduate business program, according to U.S. News & World Report. Gies was ranked No. 7 among public business programs and No. 14 overall.

The Department of Accountancy at Gies College of Business recently came out on top in the two primary rankings of accounting research scholarship by Brigham Young University. The Department tied for the #1 spot in the overall research and publications rankings, and earned the #1 ranking in the Relevance of Accounting Research.

Professor Dylan Nelson, who studies sources of shared value in employment relationships, was drawn during graduate school to Gies faculty’s research on corporate governance and organizational change.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has welcomed a record-breaking class for the fall 2024 semester. With a freshman enrollment of 9,008, the new class brings record total student enrollment at 59,238, including on-campus and online students.
